This bundle includes Wordpress, and a number of plugins designed to make life easier when setting up. Some of these plugins had to be modified, while the theme circulated with this bundle has also seen some customization.
MODIFICATIONS
Theme
The theme title (index.php) was modified to include the seoplugin title function which replaced the existing WP title functions. Objective was a SEO friendly title.
The single post template (single.php) was modified to include a call to the sociable function wp_sociable(), a source link was also added to the feature pane for posts that originate offsite (feeds), and a call to the ultimate tag warrior tag cloud function UTW_ShowWeightedTagSetAlphabetical() was added.
Plugins
The Feedwordpress plugin was modified to accommodate post processing (ie tagging etc).
PLUGINS
Admin Tiger is a handy plugin that better organizes your admin interface.
SEOPlugin provides an SEO friendly title, RSS and ATOM meta links, and keyword and description meta tags. Requires the Ultimate Tag Warrior Plugin.
Ultimate Tag Warrior is a flexible plugin that allows you to use tags in a variety of ways throughout your site. Tag clouds are one example.
Subscribe 2 is a plugin that allows people to subscribe to the blog to receive updates via email.
Related Posts generates a list of Groovy Stuff posts that are similar by keyword. In most cases it requires that a script be run that Alters the index of the relevant table to FULL TEXT.
Challenge is a math based challenge designed to prevent automated comment spamming with minimum overhead.
Sitemap generates google sitemaps and pings google when done.
Backlinks generates a chart/report showing the gradual acquisition of backlinks for your blog. It requires an MSN Search Application ID.
Feedwordpress is presently the best way to aggregate RSS content from Groovy Stuff sources, and present them as individual posts. Plenty of handy options/controls.
Permalink Redirect ensures that URLs missing a trailing slash are 301 redirected to URLs with a trailing slash. The idea being to avoid duplicate content penalties in Google.
Sociable is a comprehensive but easy to use social bookmarking plugin.
Wp-Cache is IMPERATIVE if you want to survive a sudden spike in traffic (ie the digg effect)
No Ping Wait speeds up posting by changing the way WP pings third parties.
MightyAdsense is an extremely effective way to integrate Adsense content with your posts. It‚ÄövÑv¥s also the best way to monetize your blog.
Installer is likely THE best way to get your plugins installed without having to FTP or SFTP to your plugins directory. There will be some cases where it cant install your plugins for you, but they‚ÄövÑv¥re far and few between.
TOOLS
Performancing plugin for Firefox.
I‚ÄövÑv¥M NOT PROMOTING THIS TOOL IN ORDER TO MAKE MONEY THROUGH REFERRALS. I‚ÄövÑv¥m recommending it because it is a genuinely powerful tool, with a great interface that handles posting across multiple categories and blogs with ease. The folks behind it have thought it through and come up with a truly impressive and time efficient way in which to manage your blog(s). It‚ÄövÑv¥s also cross platform - I use it at the office on my PCs, and at home on my Macs. In fact, I‚ÄövÑv¥m using it to update this post as i build this bundle on the fly.
